This week we had the pleasure of chatting with Dallas-based creative and stylist, Tanner Reddick to talk all things self expression, personal growth and more. Explore the interview below.

How would you describe your personal style?

Growing up in Oklahoma, my grandparents raised me on country music (the classic, good stuff), rock n roll and 60’s-80’s western flicks (Clint Eastwood movies to be exact). I would say those things heavily inspire my personal style today. This is very cheesy, but every time I wear one of my grandfather’s belt buckles or pieces of jewelry, I can’t help but think of the good ole days as a kid!

What ways do you use your personal style to communicate?

During my college days, I cared waaaay too much about what others thought of me. It was so crippling that even the way I dressed was to please others around me. I loved fashion and I loved everything that was on trend, but I wanted to fit in to save myself from any embarrassment. Fast-forward, my personal style today is pretty much me saying I could care less about what you think of me (in a good way). Call me a redneck because of my mullet and mustache… call me a hick because of my cowboy boots. It’s my style and I own it baby.

How has this time shaped you in a way that was unexpected?

Back in the day I used to struggle with taking risks and being courageous. Realizing that we as humans are on this earth for a very short period, time has definitely molded and shaped me into becoming a more fearless individual.  Because of this I have grown to become a risk taker and bolder with my life decisions, seeing many of my goals reached and facing adversity head on!

Is there a time that you have experienced resiliency and felt proud of yourself for overcoming an obstacle?

YES. When Covid hit I was laid off from my retail job and went to work at an Amazon warehouse. I had dreams of breaking into the fashion industry to become a stylist and they were delayed. I knew I had to do something… you know, not just wish and hope things would happen.  While I was working full time at Amazon I started working on my styling portfolio and ended up landing an agent once things started getting back to normal. I think it’s safe to say I am very proud of myself for pushing through that hard time and keeping the dream alive.

What's your favorite time of day and why?

My favorite time of day is late at night. I’m a night owl, so when the world is still and quiet, I’m thriving. I know it’s probably not the healthiest lifestyle to have, but I’m constantly going and my mind never really seems to shut off. It’s funny because I feel like my best creative ideas occur during this time. Maybe that’s why I like this time of the day most.

Looking ahead, how would you like to evolve or grow?

The world we live in is so broken and full of hate. So looking ahead, I would love to grow more in my relationship with God. I know for a fact that doing so will help me reflect His love and help me love others more. At the end of the day all I really want to do is just make a difference and impact others lives.
